OSA Privacy Policy Statement

The OSA respects your privacy.  We want to maintain your confidence in our handling of any data and information that is collected during your visit to, or use of, our web site.  We have developed and provided this Privacy Policy to inform you of our practices and policies regarding the collection, use, maintenance, and disclosure of your personal data and information.

Information Automatically Collected and Stored:

When you browse through any web site, certain personal information about you can be collected.  We may automatically collect and temporarily store the following information about your visit in log files, which records the date and time of each visit to our web site, the user’s IP (internet protocol) address, the referring IP address or domain (the prior web site visited), and the files viewed on our web site (including HTML pages, graphic, etc.) The IP addresses are used for systems administration and troubleshooting purposes.  We use the IP address log in aggregate to track and determine trends and usage of our site.  We do not correlate the log data to identify specific users.We do not, and will not, disclose, sell, rent or share any information derived from the log files with any third parties, other than the OSA Governing Council members, or as otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy.

Personally Provided Information:

You do not have to give us personal information to visit our web site.  If you register for or enroll in a program or service through our web site, make purchases from our on-line offerings, respond to a request for information or make any other on-line request of us, you will be voluntarily providing personally identifiable information.  If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, we ask that you please do not provide the requested information.
Personally provided information is used to send you announcements of new services, up-to-date course information, as well as to provide the services that you request.  We share the institution and contact person personal information with OSA pricing agreement third-party business partners who provide the services to which you subscribe. Additionally, we will share personal data from course registration with the specific course instructors.  To enable the purchase of subscriptions and course registrations, we collect and encrypt credit-card information. This information will only be shared with third parties who perform tasks required to complete the purchase transaction and for accounting purposes.  Personally provided information may be used to report to schools, or licensing or accreditation entities, the status of your enrollment, progress or completion of classes or programs.
Please note we do not control and are not responsible for privacy practices of partners, affiliates or any other party.

Cookies:

“Cookies” are small data files that are written to and stored on your hard drive when you visit a web site.  They do not read files on your hard drive.  Like most web sites, we use cookies to track users when they come back to the site to make purchasing easier by remembering your name and address. We also use cookies to remember user id and passwords if needed.
Currently, the data and information we collect with cookies is only reviewed in an aggregated form, which is not personally identifiable, and will be used for analysis of the web site. 
The data and information received from cookies will not be disclosed, sold, rented or shared with any third parties, except for personally identifiable information saved in cookies when you register for or enroll in a program or service as we disclose in accordance with our policy for Personally Provided Information set forth above, or as otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy.

Through our web pages, you may connect to third parties’ web sites via hyperlinks, and the connections might or might not be obvious. We are not responsible for the collection, use, maintenance, sharing or disclosure of data and information by such third parties.  We encourage our users to be aware of the varied privacy policies of web sites they visit.  

Disclosure:

In addition to the affiliates and partners and regardless of anything in this policy to the contrary, we may disclose personally identifiable information, with or without prior notice to you when we believe that the law requires it, in response to subpoenas or at the demand of governmental agencies, to protect our systems or corporation, to protect our visitors to the web site, or to respond to an emergency.  We may also make disclosures of your personally identifiable information with your affirmative consent.     
Maintenance & Transmission of Data and Information:                        We make reasonable efforts to store and safeguard your personally identifiable data and information.  To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put in place physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to protect the information we collect online.

User-generated content (comments, forums, and discussions):

We offer the ability to post content in a number of areas on our Web site. Any information you disclose when posting on our site, along with your user name, becomes public as soon as it is published online.

Account and service-related e-mail:

The OSA reserves the right to send you e-mail about your account status. This includes subscriber and course confirmations, renewal and expiration notices, notices of credit-card problems, other transactional e-mails, and changes to paid or free services that you have signed up for, and notifications about major changes in our Web sites or to our Privacy Policy. If you have registered for online discussions or other services, you may receive e-mail specific to your participation in those activities.

Your Right to Review and Modify Data and Information:

You may review and/or modify your personally identifiable information that you provided during subscription or course registration, or other voluntarily provided information.  You may also remove yourself from our active databases or e-mail lists.  To do so, you should send an e-mail to execdirector@oregonsim.org requesting such action.  We will endeavor to comply with your request as soon as reasonably possible.  To protect your confidentiality, we can only send a requested profile to the e-mail address listed in the profile.  In any event, our back-up files will maintain copies of your personally identifiable information. 

Users Under 13

This web site is not directed at children under the age of 13. If you are younger than 13, please do not provide any personally identifiable information in connection with your use of the web site.

Changes to this Privacy Policy:

This Privacy Policy may be amended from time to time.  If that happens, we will endeavor to promptly update this Privacy Policy.  Any such changes will be posted on this page.  Your continued use of the web site following changes to this policy will indicate that you accept the changes.  For ease of your review of any changes, the following is a list of the date of all revisions to this Privacy Policy.
